Peponi.to: try it for a week, then run it yourself

Posted on:

After the experiment

I started Peponi.to to see whether Cursor could function as a pair programmer. That question has an answer: yes, on scaffolding and debugging; no, on taste. I wrote about that in Designing with Cursor.

This is the other half. What do you do when the experiment is good enough that you would actually use it?

Peponi.to is a Rails planner you can try on my server for a week. Then I delete the account. If it is useful, clone the repo and run it yourself. MIT. Your SQLite file is the data. That is how you keep it. I am not your cloud.

Organise by day, not by guilt

Most task apps sell urgency. Due dates, reminders, streaks that punish you for a quiet Tuesday. Peponi.to organises tasks by day and stops there.

Peponi.to landing page — Organise your tasks, every day

In Settings, pick Today only, or 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 days side by side. Drag a task to Thursday if Wednesday filled up. There are no due dates. That is intentional. A date on every item creates a second list: the list of dates you are now failing.

The interface is a notebook. Classic, Lined, Graph, Vintage, Dark. Four fonts. Eight accent colours. That is 160 combinations, all included. Click the title and rename the app. Name your Not Yet lists, and put them at the bottom or on the right. A list you do not want to open is a list you will replace with a new app in three months.

Ownership is the product

The privacy page is short because the policy is short. No Google, Facebook, or Apple login. No ads. No mining. GDPR rights to export or delete.

On Omarchy, stay local: tasks never leave that machine. That is what I actually use. Sign in once during the hosted week if you want a snapshot of existing lists. After that, new work stays here. A PWA against peponi.to is only a shortcut to my server for that week. Keep it by running it.

This is the age of AI. Anyone with a little grind can build this, or better. You are welcome to have mine.

What I would not hand to the model

The AI will generate a Todo model with a due date. It will generate OAuth. It will generate streaks, reminders, and a cloud you rent. Those are the defaults of the category.

The product is the refusal. No due dates. No social login. A week on my server, then gone unless you run it. Those decisions need a person who has used too many task apps and got tired of being managed by them.
